Aron Larsen of WBFC shows you how to put together Al Troth's famous "Girdle Bug".  Al originated this pattern on the Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers of Montana.  It was originally intended to replicate Cranefly Larvae that live freely in these rivers.  In recent years, it been coined by several different names, but here at WBFC we keep Al's memory alive and out of respect for him call it by it real name-"The Girdle Bug".  It is a great fly tied in various colors and sizes and works well as a stonefly nymph, cranefly larvae or caddis larvae.  I super popular fly that is used by guides and fishermen alike, here on the Yakima River in Central Washington.
