The Waterworks ULA Purist &
Force Series Reels |
"A fly reel does much more than just "store
line": it influences the casting performance of the rod; it defines the quality of
the line handling; and it determines how well a big fish gets controlled." |
| The ULA reels are the result of analyzing all
the functions that a reel performs. |
Weight Matters |
| The casting performance of a fly rod can be degraded by reels that are to heavy.
The ULA reels are 30% to 50% lighter than comparably sized reels. It is surprising
how much this reduction in weight improves the feel of your rod and reduces casting
fatigue over the course of the day. |

| Large arbor reels (the arbor is the center of the spool around which the backing is wound)
offer three important benefits over traditional reels. Line coil memory is
eliminated for improved performance when handling and shooting line, line retrieval rates
are dramatically faster and the large arbor eliminates drag force, which puts delicate
tippets at risk of breaking. By maximizing arbor dimension, the ULA maximizes these
benefits. |

Simplicity
Equals Reliability |
| The Waterworks designed the ULA to be absolutely as simple as possible. Take
a close look and you'll understand. The spool locks securely onto the spindle with a
positive o-ring fit that completely seals the bearing from any contaminates. The
drag system uses fewer parts, but produces more torque than traditional disk designs.
If it isn't necessary, then it's not part of the ULA. |

Superior Materials Make A Superior Reel
| The ULA reels are computer machined from aerospace grade titanium
and aluminum. The body and spool are machined from aluminum and then mil-spec
anodized. The fasteners and spindle are machined from grade 5 titanium. |

Some
Reels Need A Drag And Some Don't |
The
ULA reels are available in two models which differ only in their drag features. The
ULA Purist reels utilize and
adjustable click-pawl mechanism to prevent free spooling. Supplemental line-out
resistance can be achieved by palming the rim, allowing for greater contact with the
fish. The Purist reels are absolutely the simplest and lightest reels you will find.
