WBFC PRE-SEASON
SPECIAL-2012 |
|
02/10/2012 |
|
|
Beginning
February 1st, 2012 to March 31st, 2012 WBFC will
be offering our
"Pre Season" Guided Tour Special of the Upper
Yakima River that will provide fly anglers with
a 5+ hour tour. |
|
|
Because "Day-Light Savings" time does not take
effect until Sunday, March 11th, 2012, the
window for excellent fishing opportunity will be
between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. These
are the key times to target pre-Skwalla and
adult Skwalla activity, any Blue Wing Olive
hatch that might emerge during the day, and the
exciting post winter spawn time of the Yakima's,
River Sculpins.
For those that prefer a longer day of fishing,
Full Day Guided Trips will become available
March 12th, 2012. We are taking
reservations now, so don't wait to take
advantage of this spring special.
Exciting dry fly, nymphing and streamer fishing
all wrap up in one exciting day! |
|
|
Jump start the 2012 fly fishing
season and take advantage of this excellent
opportunity to chase some aggressive post winter
rainbows, cutthroats and cutt-bows on Central Washington's fabulous blue
ribbon river. |
|
|
With a very mild winter so far
this January, the Yakima has provided some
excellent fishing opportunities for our bigger
age class rainbows. Most days the air
temperatures have averaged well into the upper
or lower forty degree range. In just the
week, the Ellensburg Valley has
received the first major winter storm of the
year. So far about 8 to 12 inches of new
snow has fallen on the Valley.
Typically the start of February brings much
warmer temperatures and the
Ellensburg and Cle Elum Valley' s see a warming
trend. The winter snow pack begins disappearing
around town and in the low lying foothills. |
|
|
As the air temperatures warm in
February, the
water temperatures will follow suit and signal
our first stonefly hatch of the year, the
Skwalla Stonefly. Come learn the intricate
nymphing and tactical dry fly techniques used by
our professional guide team to target the Yakima's upper age class rainbows by
imitating both the nymph and adult Skwalla
stonefly throughout the day. |

Streamer fishing will also be on the
daily agenda, so you can expect aggressive takes and
fast fish during this time of year. Why?
We will be imitating active Sculpins, a small to mid
size baitfish typically olive to dark olive in
color. Our bigger predatory rainbows prefer to eat
them during the active Sculpin spawning time.

Do not miss out, our spots will begin
filling
quickly. Many of our clients have learned over
the years that this is one of the most exciting
times of the season to fish the Yakima. Reserve your day with one of our guides
today! Call the Ellensburg Pro-Shop at 888-950-3474
